Max Nealon, the book’s author, and Jode Brexa, a teacher at Arapahoe Ridge, submitted a proposal for this project, and were awarded a Teachers Globalizing Classrooms Grant.

The grant award was used to purchase digital cameras and the students read Ivan Paints His World as a preparatory step for telling their own stories. After reading the book, the students brainstormed, wrote, edited, and recorded their own narratives to upload into digital stories. What a great project!

The Boulder, Colorado middle school has invited Max Nealon, the book’s author, to present Ivan’s story to its language arts students.
